A diner found a dead insect in his food at a Thai restaurant, had it replaced with another dish and found hair in the replacement dish.

Stomper Muhammad had ordered basil seafood rice at Sanook Kitchen in Suntec City Mall on Jan 27.

He said he was eating halfway when he found the dead fly.

"They replaced it with pad thai seafood," said Muhammad. "However, I found a strand of hair."

He added that he had "bad diarrhoea" after that.

The Stomper said he did not report the incident to the Singapore Food Agency as he felt it would be "useless".

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for Sanook Kitchen said because of what happened, the restaurant waived the bill of $62 for Muhammad's meal.

She told Stomp that the restaurant also later contacted the customer to invite him back for a return visit.

The Stomper said he was offered a $50 voucher.

Sanook Kitchen considers the matter resolved as Muhammad has redeemed the voucher, the spokesperson added.
