The father of local radio personality Dennis Chew has died on Feb 12, just one day after Chew's last day of school in Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
In an Instagram post, Chew said his father had "passed away peacefully" in the morning on Feb 12.
"Just yesterday afternoon, I told you that I had completed my studies, and this morning, you left," said Chew, 51, who went back to school to pursue a diploma in Chinese Media and Communication in 2022.
"I know you must feel proud of me. Thank you, dad."
Chew also thanked his father for giving him an "optimistic personality and a one-of-a-kind sense of humour", adding that he learnt how to live with sincerity from his father.
"Dad, thank you for bringing me into this beautiful world," said Chew. "Rest assured, I'll take good care of myself. I love you."
Just a day earlier on Feb 11, Chew said he had completed his final presentation at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and thanked the school for accepting him.
"Studying has never been easy, and you only truly understand that when you go through it yourself," said Chew, who also thanked his lecturers and classmates for their encouragement and companionship.
In April 2022, Chew made the surprise announcement that he would become a student again at 48 years old while accepting his All-Time Favourite Artiste Award at the Star Awards.
He had previously obtained a diploma in hotel management from hospitality school Shatec after completing his national service two decades ago.
