Cyclist uses bicycle to block bus on busy road and confronts driver near Punggol junction
This is so unsafe.
A cyclist used his bicycle to prevent a bus with passengers from moving off and confronted the bus captain.
Several Stompers alerted Stomp to a video of the Nov 25 incident posted in the Complaint Singapore Facebook group.
The caption said: "Pity the bus driver... this road pest didn't even wear helmet but want to argue."
The man had stopped his bike in front of bus service 85 on the busy road at Punggol East near the Punggol Field junction.
In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for Go-Ahead Singapore, which operates bus service 85, said the bus company is aware of an incident.
"Our preliminary findings reveal that the incident occurred when the cyclist, who was cycling on the lane next to the bus, abruptly veered into the path of the bus," said the spokesperson.
"This action compromised the safety of all parties - the cyclist, the bus captain, commuters on board the bus and other road users. Safety is our top priority and we take this incident very seriously.
"A detailed internal investigation is ongoing."
In October, another cyclist was caught on camera blocking traffic at a pedestrian crossing in Sengkang and holding up an SBS Transit bus for 17 minutes.
The police said the cyclist was assisting with investigations into alleged offences of public nuisance.
