A 39-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital after he was hit by a car while crossing a zebra crossing in Toa Payoh.

The 36-year-old male car driver is assisting the police with investigations.

A Stomper shared a video of the incident, which he said happened near Safra Toa Payoh at Kim Keat Link on March 17.

The footage shows a car approaching a zebra crossing as a cyclist is about to cross.

The car does not appear to stop, and the cyclist is seen flipping over the vehicle before landing on the other side of the road.

“Occupants of the vehicles in front and members of the public went to help the cyclist after the accident,” the Stomper said, adding that he did not see what happened afterwards.

In response to Stomp’s queries, the police said they were alerted to an accident involving a car and a bicycle along Kim Keat Link, at the slip road into Lorong 6 Toa Payoh, at about 6.20pm.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted at about 6.25pm.

The cyclist was conscious when taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.
