Couple elated to see pair of 'lovely and beautiful' hornbills in tree near their Bukit Merah home
A Bukit Merah couple was elated to see a pair of hornbills in a tree near their home on June 9.
Stomper Ramu shared a video of the birds near the Block 118A Jalan Membina playground.
"We felt nice seeing such lovely and beautiful birds around our place," said the Stomper.
"Nature is not to be hidden, that has always been my feeling. My wife and I were elated seeing the hornbill."
Three species - the oriental pied hornbill, rhinoceros hornbill and black hornbill - are native to Singapore
Dubbed farmers of the forest, hornbills disperse the seeds of hundreds of fruit tree species, contributing to lush tropical forests and maintaining the health of these fragile ecosystems.
