The police are investigating after an incident involving a driver and an Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officer at Woodlands Checkpoint on Aug 12.

A Facebook user named Sky Sg posted in the Complaint Singapore group on Aug 13 about the incident, identifying the ICA officer. The post also included videos and photos of the officer speaking on the telephone at the car counter.

ICA said on its Facebook page on Aug 15 that it was aware of social media posts alleging that an ICA officer was rude to a driver who was clearing immigration.

"Our investigations show that the driver made uncalled for remarks when our officer had instructed him to remove the right passenger window sunshade during departure immigration clearance," said ICA.

The driver recorded the officer contacting his supervisors to report the incident.

ICA said the driver was referred to the duty office and administered with a stern warning after admitting to taking videos and photos within the checkpoint premises and agreeing to delete them.

But they were later found to be uploaded online.

"The case has been referred to the police, who are investigating," said ICA.

It is an offence to take photographs or videos within the checkpoint premises, which is a protected area, without consent from the authorities.
