Chicken hanging from bamboo pole outside Rowell Road flat: 'What special dish are they making?'
A Stomper and her family were surprised when they spotted a whole chicken hanging outside a unit at Rowell Road on Oct 28.
According to the Stomper, liquid was dripping from the plucked bird onto clothes hanging out to dry below.
"I'm wondering what special dish they are making? Is this even legal for the poor hen?" she asked.
The Stomper informed Stomp that they had reported the incident to Jalan Besar Town Council (JBTC).
She added that this was the first time she had come across such a sight: "This one really caught our eyes, amazing!"
In response to a Stomp query, JBTC told Stomp that it visited the unit on Oct 30.
"The resident complied with our advice and removed the chicken," a town council spokesperson said.
This is not the first time meat has been spotted hanging outside Housing Board (HDB) flats.
Last year, a Bukit Batok resident hung slabs of raw pork belly from a bamboo pole outside their kitchen window. A neighbour complained that his freshly washed clothes had been stained with soya sauce.
In 2021, a Jalan Kukoh resident removed meat hanging from poles along a corridor after a visit from the town council.
