Not again.

Al Jasra Restaurant at 459 Changi Road was suspended one day on Oct 11 by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) and fined $800 for infestation.

The eatery had accumulated 12 demerit points within a 12-month period and was fined a total of $800 for failing to keep its premises free of infestation.

SFA said that based on track records, a food court which accumulates 12 or more demerit points during a 12-month period may have his licence suspended for a period of either one day, two days or three days.

This comes after the food stall was suspended two weeks from Aug 20 to Sept 2 and fined $800 for the same offence earlier this year.

The 24-hour eatery has been featured in SethLui.com and Tatler magazine for its prata buffet.

In a TikTok video about Al Jasra posted by Lobang Bro on Aug 15, the menu board indicated that the prata buffet offers 16 varieties for $9.90.

In a separate case, Jin Biao Coffeeshop at Block 221 Jurong East Street 21 was also suspended one day on Oct 11.

The coffee shop has accumulated 12 demerit points within a 12-month period and was fined a total of $1,300 for failing to maintain sanitary fittings in good working condition.

SFA said it takes a serious view of these offences and would like to remind food business operators to observe good food and personal hygiene practices at all times.

This includes engaging only registered food handlers and ensuring upkeep and maintenance of licensed premises, including the toilets within.
