Cement company truck on fire at Corporation Road: 'It eventually exploded'

A cement company truck caught fire at Corporation Road in Jurong on July 30 morning.

There were no reported injuries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Stomp.

Stomper Anonymous shared a video of the heavy vehicle belonging to the Singapore Cement Manufacturing Company on fire under an overhead pedestrian crossing.

Sharing photos of traffic behind the burning vehicle, Stomper Kervin said: "It eventually exploded."

Other videos of the fire were also posted online.

TikTok user qin said: "There was an explosion. I had to alight from the bus and walk to work."

At 8.10am, the Land Transport Authority tweeted: "Accident on Corporation Road (towards Jurong West Avenue 1) after Boon Lay Drive. Avoid left lane."

In response to a Stomp query, SCDF said it was alerted to the fire at 8.05am.

The fire, which involved the engine compartment of the truck, was extinguished using a water jet.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
