Cars in Golden Mile Tower blaze not electric vehicles, cause of fire under investigation: SCDF
Multiple cars caught fire on the rooftop of a multi-storey carpark at Golden Mile Tower on Aug 31 afternoon.
Several Stomper shared videos of the smoke from the blaze rising above the skyline.
Stomper Celestia said there were explosions.
Videos online show several burning cars side by side in the parking area.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) posted on Facebook that it was alerted to the multi-vehicle fire at 6001 Beach Road at about 12:50pm.
About 45 people were evacuated by the police and SCDF, which extinguished the fire using two water jets.
Three people were assessed for smoke inhalation but declined to be taken to the hospital.
Preliminary findings indicate that the cars involved in the fire were not electric vehicles, said SCDF.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
