Have you heard of a "cloned" car?

A Mitsubishi Lancer tried in vain to ram its way out of traffic to flee the police, but the driver was eventually dragged out of the car and arrested.

Stomper Lindy said that the Lancer was a cloned car.

She explained: "Our customer had bought a car from us at A Star Motors. She had been receiving numerous summons and police investigations due to flouting petrol payments in various petrol stations.

"The fact was, she was not the one who did all this. It was this cloned car that had been running on the road with the same plate."

On May 28, an employee of A Star Motors, Mr Maurice Nadarajan, spotted the cloned car.

"With the police on the line with him all the way, he tailed the car from Yishun to Yio Chu Kang to Woodlands and finally to Admiralty Road," recounted Lindy.

"Prior to that, I had tried to stop traffic at the Riverside Road junction, but the driver of the Lancer fled. Maurice continued on to tail him till Admiralty."

Two videos of the incident have gone viral online.

The black Lancer had stopped behind a truck at the traffic light junction of Admiralty Road and Marsiling Lane at around 6.25pm.

Mr Nadarajan alighted from another vehicle and rushed to the front of the Lancer to prevent it from leaving.

Police officers then appeared and the Lancer tried to ram its way through the surrounding vehicles to the opposite side of the road.

The police eventually broke the Lancer's driver's side window, dragged the driver out of the car and pinned him down on the road to arrest him.

Stomp has contacted the police for more info.

The Stomper said: "It was a real tough task to pin this driver down and cuff him. Maurice went all out to help his customer get out of this mess.

"Kudos to his dedication and bravery."

Lindy also shared a photo of the police examining the Lancer at night in Marsiling.
