Car hits cyclist with child at Tampines Avenue 5 zebra crossing
A Honda car hit a woman and a child who were on a bicycle at a zebra crossing at Tampines Avenue 5.
Stomper Lau Lau alerted Stomp to a video of the incident that was posted on SG Road Vigilante's Facebook and YouTube pages.
According to the post, it happened on Oct 8 at about 7.20pm.
The Honda is seen stopping to allow a pedestrian to cross the zebra crossing but moves forward just as the woman, who is riding the bicycle with a young girl seated behind her, starts to cross.
The vehicle then comes to a sudden stop and several passers-by walk to the front of the car.
The Honda eventually moves off showing the woman and girl sitting on the kerb and the bicycle lying on a grass patch behind them.
Stomp understands that the police were not called for this incident.
Netizens were divided in the comments.
"Cyclists have the mindset that they are kings of the road," wrote one Facebook user.
However, most slammed the driver for failing to stop.
"The driver is impatient and irresponsible," another netizen said. "It is obvious that the cyclist is crossing and should have waited for them to clear the zebra crossing."
Stomp was also alerted to a similar incident in which a car ran a red light as pedestrians were crossing at Marina Boulevard on Oct 6.
Fortunately, the Peugeot did not hit anyone.
