Car fire contained by KPE tunnel's sprinkler system, extinguished by SCDF
A car caught fire in the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) tunnel on July 23.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Stomp that it was alerted to the fire, which occurred on the KPE towards Tampines Expressway after Sims Avenue exit, at around 5pm.
The fire, which involved the engine compartment of a car, was contained by the tunnel's water mist system and subsequently extinguished by SCDF using a water jet.
There were no reported injuries.
A circulated video shared by Stomper Watson shows flames in front of a white car and sprinklers being activated.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
