Bukit Timah alteration shop owner calls police on Stomper during dispute -- over missing pants
A woman who sent two pairs of pants for alteration at a shop in Bukit Timah said the business not only misplaced her items but also called the police when she returned to ask about them.
Stomper Helen told Stomp she had visited the shop on Oct 18 to change the waist rubber band on two pairs of pants.
"The shop owner charged me $30 for changing the waist rubber band," Helen said.
She returned two weeks later on Oct 31, expecting to collect her items, but was informed that the pants could not be found.
Helen said she went back again on Nov 10 at around 4pm to check if the shop had located her items, but the situation allegedly escalated unexpectedly.
"I went to ask if she had found my pants but she called the police and falsely claimed that I beat her up right in front of the police officers," Helen recounted.
"She even cursed me, saying God would take me."
Helen added that she eventually left together with two police officers after the dispute.
According to her, the shop owner initially denied liability and refused to compensate her, but later agreed to make payment.
"She paid me $60 for the lost pants, inclusive of the $30 I paid for alteration," she said.
