Boss of Kaki Bukit workshop convicted for illegally installing non-compliant tinted films on 3 cars
The sole proprietor of a workshop called Stealth Film Workz was convicted on Feb 12 for illegally modifying vehicles to install non-compliant tinted films on windscreens and windows.
He was charged for three separate illegal installations between 2023 and 2024, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in a Facebook post.
Started in 2018, Stealth Film Workz is located at 8 Kaki Bukit Avenue 4.
Ironically, the company says on its Facebook page: "We provide high-quality - LTA-compliant - solar window film."
Its website also has an article titled: "Vehicle window tinting laws in Singapore 2024 : How dark can you go?"
The article states: "Those caught illegally modifying cars like installing non-compliant car window tints can be required to give a fine of $5,000, prisoned for a maximum of 3 months, or both. Penalties often double in the case of repeated offences.
"Moreover, those caught attempting to manipulate or falsify window tint tests face even steeper penalties. Tampering with tinting devices or presenting fraudulent documents can lead to severe legal consequences, including imprisonment.
"By maintaining high transparency standards, authorities aim to reduce accidents caused by poor visibility and enhance law enforcement's ability to see inside vehicles when necessary."
