BMW collides with another car, tyre falls off and hits man seated near road at Jalan Kayu eatery
A BMW i3 crashed into a lamp post after a collision with another car at Jalan Kayu on the morning of March 29.
One of the BMW's tyres fell off and hit a man seated near the road at a eatery, reported Shin Min Daily News.
Stompers Jane and Lee alerted Stomp to a video circulating online of the accident's aftermath that showed a man lying on the ground being assisted by another man. A tyre can be seen on the ground near them.
The video also shows the black BMW with its front right bumper crushed and its front left wheel missing. The toppled lamp post was in front of the car.
Another video, likely taken from the eatery's CCTV, shows the moment the BMW crashed into the lamp post and the tyre hit the man.
The BMW driver told Shin Min that he was trying to overtake the other car, which suddenly turned right, leading to the collision. This caused the BMW driver to lose control of his vehicle and crash into the lamp post.
In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted at 8.55am to the accident involving two cars along Jalan Kayu towards Sengkang West Avenue.
The 55-year-old man hit by the tyre was conscious when taken to the hospital.
A 52-year-old male car driver sustained minor injuries but refused to be taken the hospital. He is assisting with police investigations, which are ongoing.
