Bill Gates struggles to eat durian at Newton Food Centre
A large crowd gathered at Newton Food Centre to catch a glimpse of Bill Gates on May 6.
Stomper Mike shared videos of the American billionaire visiting the hawker centre in the evening.
In one video, Gates is seen walking around the hawker centre, with many members of the public recording the moment.
The Microsoft co-founder also tried some local delicacies, including durian.
He smelled the fruit before shaking his head and hesitantly inspected a piece in his hand.
He then took a bite, and then a small nibble after.
However, he immediately put the fruit down and frowned.
He did not seem to be a fan.
Gates visited Singapore to speak at the Philanthropy Asia Summit 2025, where he announced that the Gates Foundation will be opening a local office.
The Gates Foundation, a non-profit organisation founded by Bill and Melinda Gates, is the third-largest charitable foundation in the world.
