A resident at Block 522 Bedok North Avenue 1 is frustrated with the crowded corridor in front of his flat.

Apart from the usual potted plants, there is also a large rack in the narrow common area.

Stomper Kelvin said his neighbour has been using the rack as a Shopee collection point.

"There are many people collecting parcels every day, blocking us from leaving and entering our unit," said the Stomper.

He is particularly annoyed with late-night collections, which he claimed occurred past 11pm.

Footage from his smart doorbell taken on June 27 at 8.30pm and June 30 at 6.43pm show people coming to collect their parcels right outside the Stomper's door.

Kelvin said: "For Shopee parcels collections, it should be hand-given from the unit, not through using a shoe rack as pigeonholes."

In response to a Stomp query, a Shopee spokesperson said on July 11: "We value the feedback and have temporarily paused operations at the collection point while we review the current set-up.

"We are actively engaging the operator to explore improvements aligned with Shopee's guidelines, ensuring that parcel collections are managed safely and with due consideration for neighbouring residents.

"Shopee remains committed to upholding responsible practices across all residential collection points."

But the parcel collection point is not the only problem the Stomper has with his neighbour, who used to treat the common corridor as a storage area.

Kelvin also has issues with the CCTV camera that the neighbour installed outside her flat aimed at people collecting parcels at the rack.

When contacted by Stomp, an Aljunied-Hougang Town Council spokesperson said it had previously engaged the neighbour regarding the obstruction along the common corridor.

"Following the engagement, the items causing the obstruction have since been removed.

"Separately, the town council has been advising residents to keep the common areas clear of clutter through our educational outreach and routine inspections," said the spokesperson.

The spokesperson added: "With regard to the unit's CCTV camera, as it is mounted on the window of the unit concerned, the town council is unable to pursue further action at this time."
