A resident in Bedok was alarmed by loud “gunshot-like” noises late at night on April 4.

Stomper P said the sounds rang out at about 10.23pm near Block 30 New Upper Changi Road, when a mother brought two children to an open space to play with “toy pistols using explosive caps”.

He estimated that around 50 shots were heard.

“Disturbed residents shouted down from their units asking them to stop, as the noise was happening late at night,” P said. “However, the mother allegedly shouted back that there was nothing wrong and continued letting the children play.”

According to the Stomper, the woman also encouraged the children to finish using the remaining “bomb bags” despite the ongoing complaints.

“The repeated loud bangs caused significant disturbance and alarm to nearby residents,” he said.

In videos shared by the Stomper, the children are seen playing with toy guns that emit a flash of light and a loud “gunshot” sound. They are also seen stomping on “bomb bags” that create loud popping noises.

In one of the clips, the mother is heard telling her children: “Come, 10.30pm you can still play, who say cannot play? Two more minutes.”

P said the police were not called and that this was the first time such an incident had happened in the neighbourhood.

Stomp has contacted the police and the town council for more information.
