Bedok police arrest 2 men on same day for separate cases of loanshark harassment
Two men were arrested by Bedok police on Sept 27 for their suspected involvement in two separate cases of loanshark harassment.
The police were alerted on Sept 24 at about 10.15pm to the first case at a Bedok Reservoir Road flat where the main door was splashed with red paint and a debtor's note was left behind.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the 26-year-old man and arrested him on Sept 27.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in another case of loanshark harassment along Bedok North Avenue 3.
A debtor's note and a mobile phone were seized as case exhibits.
In the second case on Sept 27, the main door and gate of a Sims Drive residence were splashed with brown paint and a debtor's note was left behind.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the 25-year-old man and arrested him on the same day.
Preliminary investigations revealed that he was also allegedly involved in other cases of loanshark harassment island-wide.
A debtor's note and a mobile phone were seized as case exhibits.
Both men were to be charged in court on Sept 28 under the Moneylenders Act.
For first-time offenders, the offence of loanshark harassment carries a fine between $5,000 and $50,000 with imprisonment of up to five years, and caning of up to six strokes.
