Ang Mo Kio resident says crows getting 'more aggressive' as population grows
A resident has raised concerns about an apparent increase in crows around Ang Mo Kio Street 43, saying the birds have become 'more aggressive' in recent months.
Stomper Alex said the crow population has grown noticeably over the past one to two years and believes the birds may have migrated from the nearby Bishan area.
"Our area near Ang Mo Kio Street 43 has seen more and more crows recently," he said.
"This is likely due to food sources nearby, such as food courts, wet markets and rubbish collection points.
"I reported the issue to the authorities a few times last year.
"The MP visited the hot spot, trees were pruned and nests removed, but the situation hasn't subsided.
"The crows seem more agitated and aggressive now."
Alex added that residents hope the matter can be addressed before the birds start 'attacking people'.
In response to a Stomp query, an Ang Mo Kio Town Council (AMKTC) spokesperson said: "AMKTC has been working with the relevant agencies to address the crow-related issues around Block 428 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.
"As part of these efforts, we have carried out a tree replacement exercise to reduce nesting opportunities for crows and conducted crow trapping operations in collaboration with the National Parks Board (NParks).
"In addition, NParks has recently deployed effigies at trees around the car park near Block 428 to deter crows.
"AMKTC will continue to monitor the situation closely and work with NParks to explore further measures to keep the crow population under control.
"We also urge residents not to feed birds or leave leftover food in common areas, as this can attract crows. With collective effort, we can better manage the crow population and ensure a safer and more pleasant living environment for residents."
