A resident was concerned after a neighbour was caught on CCTV allegedly pulling a supermarket basket along a common corridor in Ang Mo Kio.

Stomper Concerned Resident said the incident occurred at Block 116 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 on May 14 at about 10.48pm.

He shared CCTV footage showing two women walking along the corridor, with one pulling a green trolley basket behind her. The Stomper believes the basket was from Sheng Siong.

“The basket appears to be the type used inside the supermarket and is normally not meant to be taken out of the store,” the Stomper said. “From the footage, one of them was seen bringing the basket back along the corridor towards the residential unit.”

The Stomper said such behaviour “reflects poorly on the neighbourhood and may constitute misuse or theft of store property”.

He told Stomp that this was the first time he had captured his neighbour “red-handed”, but believes it may not have been an isolated incident.

“I hope this can raise awareness so that such behaviour can be addressed,” he added.

This is not the first time people have been called out for taking baskets out of supermarkets.

Last September, a man attracted attention on Stomp’s social media after he was spotted carrying a Giant supermarket basket out of a store, prompting readers to submit more of such contributions.

The incidents have sparked online discussion about a lack of consideration by shoppers.
