Admiralty resident feels as neglected as his HDB block: 'Bad smell, bad condition, bad service'
A resident at Block 484 Admiralty Link is feeling as neglected and rundown as the building looks.
Stomper Poh said a prolonged delay in Repair and Redecoration (R&R) works has left the block in poor state, which he shared photos of.
He explained: "Painting works for my block has been delayed for more than 10 years (the standard is seven years). The last R&R here was 2015, so the next scheduled date should have been 2022 or 2023. A bit of a delay is understandable due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but it has been three years since.
"The condition of the block is very, very bad, with algae and peeling paint everywhere. We have not been able to open our hall and room windows for almost 10 months due to very bad smells especially in hot weather. It is an unhygienic and unhealthy living environment."
Poh also slammed the "poor and unsatisfactory service", adding: "I have visited the maintenance officer many times with pictures as proof, but there is still no action taken. I have also not been able to speak to the general manager."
In response to a Stomp query, Sembawang Town Council said the property officer in charge of the precinct is aware of the feedback and has been in touch with the resident.
The town council is currently in the process of preparing for the colour polling exercise for the block's upcoming R&R works.
"Concurrently, we will also ensure that the general cleanliness and condition of the estate are addressed and improved," a spokeswoman told Stomp.
"In the meantime, we seek the public’s understanding as we work towards enhancing the estate’s condition.
"We remain committed to serving our residents and welcome any feedback through our official channels."
