About 400 motorcyclists checked by Traffic Police at Tuas Checkpoint, 26 arrested
A total of 26 people were arrested in an enforcement operation conducted by Traffic Police against errant motorcyclists at Tuas Checkpoint on May 16.
About 400 motorcyclists were stopped for checks and 25 people, aged between 18 and 38, were arrested for driving without a valid driving licence and using a motor vehicle without insurance coverage.
A 21-year-old man was also arrested for permitting another person to use a vehicle without a valid driving licence and insurance coverage.

The offence of driving without a valid driving licence carries a fine of up to $10,000, a jail term of up to three years, or both. Repeat offenders are liable to a fine of up to $20,000, a jail term of up to six years or both. The vehicle may also be forfeited.
Using a motor vehicle without insurance coverage carries a fine of up to $1,000, or a jail term of up to three months, or both.
Permitting another person to use a vehicle without a valid driving licence carries a fine of up to $10,000, a jail term of up to three years, or both. Repeat offenders are liable to a fine of up to $20,000, a jail term of up to six years or both. The vehicle may also be forfeited.
Permitting another person to use a motor vehicle without insurance coverage carries a fine of up to $1,000, or a jail term of up to three months, or both.
