A nine-year-boy was caught on camera dashing across a road and getting hit by a car in Novena on July 23.

Stomper UT shared a video of the incident that she received from a friend, showing a figure - presumably the boy - crossing the road from a distance.

The boy is subsequently seen standing on a traffic island. The carcam driver stops for the boy, who then dashes out into the road.

The boy is hit by an oncoming car while running across the road, prompting screams in the background of the video.

The car driver stops and exits his vehicle. He can be seen gesturing to a woman on the other side of the road.

The woman gestures back while reaching for the boy, who appears to have gotten up from the road and is seen walking towards her.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the accident along Moulmein Road towards Balestler Road at about 2pm.

The nine-year-old pedestrian was conscious when taken to hospital.

"A 72-year-old male car driver is assisting with investigations," said police, adding that investigations are ongoing.

UT told Stomp: "This little boy was crossing the road so dangerously. Everyone, please remind your family members to be very careful when crossing the road."
