81-year-old man assaulted at Redhill Close, suspect arrested for robbing him of $200

An 81-year-old man was allegedly assaulted and purportedly robbed of cash amounting to $200 on May 19, said the police.

Stomper David shared a brief video of the crime scene near Block 86 Redhill Close.

The police said they were alerted to the case at 3.45pm.

The victim sustained injuries and was conscious when taken to Singapore General Hospital. The male assailant had fled the scene.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identity of the 65-year-old man and arrested him within four hours of the report.

Cash amounting to $62 was recovered.

The man was to be charged in court on May 21 with the offence of robbery with hurt, which carries an imprisonment term of not less than five years and not more than 20 years and caning of not less than 12 strokes.
