A 56-year-old woman died following an incident at Jewel Changi Airport on Oct 16. She is believed to have fallen from a height.

The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force said they received a call for help at 78 Airport Boulevard at about 1.55pm.

The woman died after she was taken unconscious to Changi General Hospital, the authorities said. Police investigations are ongoing.

A video posted on social media platform Xiaohongshu, which has since been deleted, showed someone performing CPR on the woman. Jewel staff could also be seen setting up barricades around the incident site.

When The Straits Times arrived at the mall at about 6pm, the incident site on the first floor in front of Lobby F had been cleared.

Staff at the shops in the area told ST they had witnessed the incident but were told not to speak about it, and instead referred ST to Jewel's management.

In response to queries from ST, chief executive of Jewel Changi Airport Development Lee Ching Wern said: "We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred and extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.

"We are working closely with the authorities to provide our full support in their investigations."

Another case where a person fell from a height at Changi Airport happened on March 23, 2024.

A 20-year-old man was found lying on the floor near a taxi stand at Terminal 1. He was taken to Changi General Hospital in a conscious state.
