50-year-old woman arrested after allegedly securing Jurong East unit with bicycle lock
A 50-year-old woman was arrested for her suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment.
On Sept 14 at about 4.10pm, the police were alerted to a case of loanshark harassment in Jurong East, where the unit's main gate was secured with a bicycle lock.
Through CCTV images provided by the complainant and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Clementi Police Division identified the woman and arrested her within three hours of the report.
Preliminary investigations revealed that she is believed to be involved in other cases of loanshark harassment.
One mobile phone and two bicycle locks were seized as case exhibits.
The woman will be charged in court on Sept 16 under the Moneylenders Act 2008.
For first-time offenders, the offence of loanshark harassment carries a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, imprisonment of up to five years and caning of up to six strokes.
