A woman was taken to the hospital after a road accident involving five cars brought traffic almost to a standstill on CTE on May 4.

The 34-year-old passenger was conscious as she was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force were alerted at about 5.30pm to the accident that took place along the CTE, towards SLE, before the Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 exit.

In a video recording uploaded online, traffic is seen slowing to a crawl as the crash scene blocks the two right-most lanes of the expressway.

At least three ambulances and several police vehicles were at the scene.

Two cars involved in the accident are seen stalled perpendicular to the flow of traffic - with one having crashed into the road divider, and the other with visible damage to its boot.

A black car with a heavily damaged left tyre is seen close to the road divider.

Two individuals were assessed for minor injuries but declined to be taken to the hospital.
