32-year-old man arrested after allegedly going MIA with rented cameras and accessories worth $50k
A 32-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in a series of camera rental scams, the police said in a statement on Dec 11.
Between September and November 2024, multiple victims reported being cheated by the man after loaning him their digital cameras and accessories.
The man allegedly became uncontactable after the rental period ended, despite repeated attempts by the victims to reach him.
The total losses incurred by the victims amount to at least $50,000.
Following investigations, officers from the Woodlands and Ang Mo Kio Police Divisions identified the suspect and arrested him on Dec 10.
The man will be charged in court on Dec 12 for the offence of cheating.
If convicted, he could face up to 10 years' jail and a fine.
The police take a serious view against any person who commits fraud, and the perpetrators will be dealt with in accordance with the law," the police said.
