2 SCDF stations respond to Jurong West fire, person trapped in bedroom rescued with power saw
A person was trapped in a bedroom when the living room caught fire at Block 448 Jurong West Street 42 on July 9 morning.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook post that it was alerted to the fire at about 10am.
Firefighters from both Jurong Fire Station and Bishan Fire Station responded to the incident.
When SCDF arrived, the living room of a first-storey flat was on fire.
While one team fought the fire in the living room, another team used a power saw to cut the window grill at the rear of the unit and rescued the person trapped in the bedroom.
About 10 residents from the block were evacuated by the police and SCDF as a precautionary measure.
The fire was extinguished with a water jet.
The person rescued from the bedroom and two neighbours were assessed for smoke inhalation and taken to Singapore General Hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
