2 nabbed for splashing paint in Pasir Ris believed to be involved in loanshark harassment islandwide

A 26-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were arrested after two Pasir Ris flats were splashed with red paint.

The police were alerted to the case of loanshark harassment at Pasir Ris Drive 6 on Dec 4.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identities of the two suspects and arrested them on Dec 12.

One mobile phone was seized as a case exhibit.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the duo are also believed to be involved in other similar cases of loanshark harassment islandwide.

They were charged in court on Dec 14 under the Moneylenders Act 2008.

For first-time offenders, the offence of loanshark harassment carries a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, with imprisonment of up to five years, and caning of up to six strokes.
