A 16-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to raping a girl when she was 13 at a carpark with his friend, while another stood by to keep a lookout.

When the friend hesitated to rape the girl as he was afraid it would hurt, the boy demonstrated to him how to do it.

The boy, who cannot be named as he is below 18, pleaded guilty on Sept 30 to six charges, including rape, theft, voluntarily causing hurt and rioting.

The judge called for a reformative training suitability report and adjourned the case.

On Sept 1, 2023, the boy, identified as B1 in court documents, was with his friends and the girl at a playground in Petir Road where they drank alcohol.

After chugging more than two bottles of soju, the girl vomited and was carried by three female friends to a staircase landing at a nearby multi-storey carpark in Bukit Panjang.

There, the three female friends helped her change her shorts, as she was unconscious and had soiled her garment with vomit.

After they were done, B1 instructed them to leave, while he and two other male friends stayed behind. He told one of his friends to keep a lookout for the police while he and the other boy committed various sexual acts on the girl.

While they were raping her, the friend alerted them that the police were coming, and the pair quickly put the girl's clothes back on her.

When the police questioned B1, he denied knowing the girl. He was not arrested.

His acts came to light only in January 2024 when the friend who was asked to keep watch told a psychologist about what had happened.

The court also heard that B1 and the same 13-year-old girl had consensual sex on at least five occasions in August 2023 - before the incident - when they were in a relationship.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Ng Jun Kai said the pair would have sex at the staircase landing near B1's home.

In May 2024, B1 entered into a relationship with another girl, who was 14 at the time. They had met in 2022 but reconnected two years later after B1 was released from a boys' home.

It was not stated why he was in a boys' home.

Despite knowing the girl's age, B1 booked a private-hire car ride for the girl to meet him at his home after school and have sex with him that same month.

Separately, B1 also admitted to voluntarily causing hurt to a 14-year-old boy in 2023 as he was unhappy the latter had stared at him.

At a location undisclosed in court documents, B1 instructed the boy to remove his bag and T-shirt and to kneel, before telling him that he would beat him up for 45 seconds. He then pushed the boy to the ground and rained punches on him.

The boy suffered bruising on his arm and around his eye.

B1's acts came to light when a passer-by heard the boy crying at a staircase and called the police.

Urging the court to call for a reformative training suitability report, DPP Ng said: "We submit that the severity and frequency of the accused's offending is especially troubling and that a stiff penalty is required to deter other would-be offenders and the accused from further offending."

In mitigation, B1, who was unrepresented, said: "I just want to say that I regret my actions and would like to have some leniency in sentencing."

B1 is expected to be sentenced on Oct 22.
