A total of 151 non-compliant mobility devices were impounded in various enforcement operations islandwide over the last two months, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in a Facebook post on July 11.

LTA enforcement officers detected 232 active mobility offences.

The offences included:

  • Using power-assisted bicycles (PABs) with improper or missing registration plates
  • Riding or keeping illegally modified PABs
  • Riding bicycles without working handbrakes, also known as fixies

First-time offenders caught using improper or obscured PAB number plates may face fines up to $1,000, three months' jail or both. Those using non-compliant devices on paths face up to $10,000 fine, six months' jail or both.

"As part of these ops, we also worked with police officers from Marina Bay, Punggol, and Geylang Neighbourhood Police Centres to target large group gatherings of active mobility users over the school holidays," said LTA
