It was a busy week for law enforcement in Geylang.

A total of 16 women and 28 men, aged between 21 and 67, were either arrested or are facing enforcement action after a week-long series of multi-agency raids from March 17 to 23.

The operations, led by Bedok Police Division, targeted illegal gambling dens, vice activities, duty-unpaid cigarettes, unapproved health products, e-vaporisers, and modified personal mobility devices (PMDs).

Here's what went down:

Illegal gambling at Kallang Pudding Road

Two men and one woman were arrested after officers busted a gambling den in an industrial building.

More than $3,500 in cash and gambling paraphernalia were seized. Another three people are being investigated.

Duty-unpaid cigarettes seized in Geylang

Singapore Customs caught 11 men with a total of 63 sticks of duty-unpaid cigarettes. They were slapped with composition fines.

Illegal health products and e-vaporisers

From March 18 to 20, six men were caught with cough syrup and sexual enhancement products worth $5,200, plus eight e-vaporisers.

Four others were also fined for vaping offences.

Vice and immigration offences at public entertainment outlets:

Between March 20 and 22, eight women were arrested for working without valid work passes.

One woman was nabbed under the Immigration Act, and four others were arrested under the Women's Charter.

A male licensee, 52, was also fined after his outlet breached licensing conditions.

Illegally modified PMDs and PABs

On March 21, three men were caught riding illegally modified devices. One power-assisted bicycle (PAB) was impounded.

Superintendent of Police Muhammad Firdaus Bin Abdul Raub praised the teamwork among agencies and said: "The police take a zero-tolerance approach towards illegal activities and will take firm action against those who blatantly disregard the law."
