A total of 12 people were arrested and more than 100 summonses were issued during a multi-agency enforcement operation targeting errant motorcyclists at Tuas Checkpoint on Oct 14.

The operation was conducted by the Traffic Police (TP), the National Environment Agency (NEA) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

About 300 motorcyclists were stopped for checks.

The police said that 12 individuals, aged between 20 and 49, were arrested for riding without a valid licence and using a motor vehicle without insurance coverage.

NEA officers issued 83 summonses for offences involving vehicular smoke emissions and excessive noise, while LTA issued 67 summonses for improper licence plates.

The police reminded all motorists entering Singapore - including those riding or driving foreign-registered vehicles - to comply with local traffic laws and vehicle regulations. Non-compliant motorists may face penalties and foreign-registered
vehicles may be denied entry into Singapore.

The police also urged all riders to abide by traffic rules, practice safe riding habits and look out for one another, noting that motorcyclists and pillion riders can be vulnerable road users.
