For over a decade, I’ve been on a quest to find love, investing my time, effort and approximately $10,000 on various matchmaking agencies.

Yet, despite my persistence, I remain single, still searching for the right person to share my life with.

Since 2013, I’ve attended numerous speed dating events and matchmaking services from well-known local agencies, including CompleteMe, Love Express, Fabrique Love, Gai Gai, and Dating Moments.

I’ve also tried personalised one-on-one matchmaking through the premium service Lunch Actually.

One of the main challenges I face is seeing the same familiar faces at different events.

While I’m open to dating older women, many are uncomfortable with the idea of dating a younger man. Once they find out they are older than me, they tend to lose interest.

Another hurdle is my financial situation.

I’m a low-income earner and many women, who earn more than me, MIA on me once they learn about my income.

I also struggle with appearing approachable. I don’t have the habit of smiling often, which might make me seem unfriendly or distant to potential partners. But the truth is, I’m not picky when it comes to love.

I don’t seek perfection. I just hope to meet someone who is decent-looking and accepting of my financial limitations.

Going Dutch on dates is a practical necessity for me, and I hope to find someone who understands and is comfortable with that.

Nationality isn’t a concern.

I’m open to dating Singaporeans and foreigners alike. I’m also open to relationships with divorcees or widows, as I believe everyone deserves a chance at love, regardless of their past.

After years of searching, I’m now reaching out in a different way – by sharing my story.

Perhaps there’s someone out there who can relate to my journey or is willing to give me a chance.

Eugene
