As homes across Singapore light up for Deepavali, one Punggol resident decided to brighten her neighbourhood in her own way.

Stomper Tarsh, who lives at Block 411A Northshore Trio, set up a table outside her home with snacks and drinks for her neighbours and passers-by to enjoy in celebration of the festival of lights.

She told Stomp that she started the initiative on Oct 12 and will continue replenishing the treats until Deepavali day.

"It's a simple gesture, but it's been heartwarming to see people stop by with smiles, share kind words, and even bring their own treats to add to the table.

"This act of giving has not only spread joy but also created a stronger sense of togetherness among our community," said Tarsh.

In a message she shared in her neighbourhood group chat, Tarsh wrote: "Dear neighbours, we have prepared some murukus and old-school sweets for you!"

Photos shared by Tarsh show neighbours and children helping themselves to the festive snacks.

She hopes her small act of kindness will inspire others to spread cheer in their own ways.

"Sometimes, it's the little things that make a big difference," she said. "In times like these, small acts of kindness can go a long way in bringing people closer."
