Honest bus driver returns Stomper's lost phone with son's help
Losing a phone can feel like losing a lifeline, but one commuter's story shows how a simple act of honesty and kindness can turn the situation around.
Stomper Jenny shared with Stomp how she misplaced her phone while travelling on bus service 36 on Sept 17 at around 11.45am.
Fortunately, the phone was found by the bus driver, Ms Tan Kwee Chu, who went out of her way - with her family's help - to return it.
Jenny recounted: "I was rushing to connect with people, but unreachable without my phone - it held all my vital contacts.
"I used an old phone to try tracking it, leaving messages via Find My, hoping against hope."
To her relief, Ms Tan's son Li, reached out later that day. Despite the distance, he travelled to meet Jenny in person and returned the phone intact.
"It was such a wonderful gesture," said Jenny.
"Her warmth and honestly are truly uplifting. Losing a phone feels like losing a lifeline, but she and her family's generosity revived my sense of connection and trust."
Jenny hopes that Ms Tan's employer will recognise her for her integrity and compassion.
"Honest drivers like her deserve appreciation from the company. It would encourage her colleagues and inspire everyone to do good deeds," she said.
A true reminder that kindness, both big and small, can make a lasting difference.
