An SBS Transit bus captain has been commended for going the extra mile for his passengers and providing service with a heart.

Stomper Syrah, who takes bus service 852 from Yishun Bus Interchange to her workplace in the Lentor Avenue area every morning, praised Mr Prasad for his friendliness, helpfulness and being a safe driver.

She said: "I would like to commend one of the best bus drivers I have met in Singapore, Mr Prasad.

"He would always greet most of the passengers boarding his bus (which actually gives me and rest of the passengers a good start to the day) and from time to time, would even bid goodbye when I alight at my stop.

"I take a lot of different buses whenever I go to places. I tend to compare how Mr Prasad is so welcoming to all passengers while most bus captains don't even smile.

"As a foreign worker who has been working in Singapore for a year, it is very rare for me to have met such locals who are very friendly, approachable, and most importantly, send us safely to our bus stops.

"I remember the first time I took public transport, he was the bus captain who helped me to check which was the nearest bus stop to my workplace.

"Over time, I can really see how he helps a lot of people, especially the elderly (not to mention the various articles that have been published about him.

"If only we have such bus drivers all over Singapore, people will be more motivated to take public transport.

"Many thumbs up, Mr Prasad!"

This is not the first time Mr Prasad has been Stomped for his outstanding service.

He made headlines in August 2021 when he gave $10 to an elderly commuter who had forgotten his wallet and again in October 2023 for showing care and compassion towards a verbally abusive passenger.

Stomper Sharon, who shared both incidents, had said: "I hope Mr Prasad will be awarded for his marvellous attitude."

Mr Prasad, a former ambulance driver, told tabla! in 2023 that working as a bus driver is no easy feat.

He said: "You need to have endurance to deal with different people on a daily basis."
