Woman allegedly stole $319 Ralph Lauren polo from Takashimaya in July and $299 sweater in Aug

A 57-year-old woman was charged on Nov 20 for stealing two clothing items from Takashimaya Department Store in Ngee Ann City Shopping Centre.

The police said that Fong Wai Kuen allegedly stole a blue Ralph Lauren women's pullover sweater valued at $299 on Aug 2.

She attempted to leave without making payment but was detained by the store manager.

Fong was subsequently arrested.

Further investigations revealed she was also allegedly involved in an earlier case of shop theft at the same store on July 13. Fong had allegedly stolen a blue Ralph Lauren women's cable knit polo valued at $319.

The Singaporean was charged with two counts of theft in dwelling.

The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine.
