A Swedish tourist who shared a video of her making friends with another visiting couple in Singapore has gone viral — and netizens responded by warning her against revealing that she is travelling alone.

TikToker @_khayj, a Seoul-based dancer, rapper, and model, posted the video taken at Maxwell Food Centre on Jan 20 with the caption "We made our first friends in Singapore!!"

She meets a couple – an American originally from New York, with his wife from the Philippines where they now live – celebrating their wedding anniversary. She asks for food recommendations, and also tells the couple she is a solo traveller.

The clip has since garnered at least 485,600 views, 35,400 reactions, and 95 comments.

Netizens responded with concerned remarks. "Do not tell people you are travelling alone," said a TikToker in a comment that received more than a thousand reactions.

While some Singaporeans declared that the Republic is the safest place in the world, others warned her to be careful. "Low crime doesn't mean no crime. Singapore is not 100% safe, coming from a Singaporean."

The video was also shared on _khayj's Instagram account, with many repeating the warning about telling people that she is travelling alone. One netizen was more nonchalant: "It's really easy to meet people and make friends in Singapore. Don't worry about safety."

Alluding to the couple she had spoken to, one netizen said in jest: "Wife was not pleased."
