Woman rides on man's shoulders eating ice cream on escalator at Plaza Singapura
A video of a couple riding an escalator — with the woman perched on the man's shoulders while both appeared to be eating ice cream — has gone viral, drawing criticism from netizens over their disregard for safety.
The 9-second clip, shared on SG Warehouse Sale & Events' page on Nov 23 with the caption, "Lucky girl on boyfriend's shoulder on escalator. How many bf can do that for his gf?", had garnered 23,000 views, 112 reactions and 85 comments at press time.
SG Warehouse Sale & Events told Stomp that the video was filmed at Plaza Singapura and described it as 'someone's video'.
Netizens warn couple's stunt could cause fatal falls or injure others
While the caption praised the boyfriend's supposed chivalry, many viewers slammed the stunt as reckless.
"Lucky? So dangerous, guy still eat ice cream, shud focus hold her tight. Fall can be fatal as well injuring others," said one Facebook user.
"This is a dangerous act. Do not emulate," said another.
Others didn't mince their words.
"Stupid guy. Trying to show off. Fall, cry mother cry father," commented one user.
"Stupidity has no cure. U fall nvm, how u gonna replace a daughter for someone else? Really brainless," another said.
One netizen even recounted a near-miss involving a parent who attempted the same thing with a child.
"Escalator suddenly stops / malfunctions, that's it. Both are nincompoops. I saw a father who did the same thing with his child; he tripped and almost fell," said the netizen.
