A salad mix has been recalled after it was found to contain high levels of a bacterium which causes food poisoning, said the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).

The product, Coolibah Herbs Gourmet Salad Mix, had levels of Bacillus cereus which exceeded acceptable limits, said SFA on Aug 21.

Bacillus cereus is typically found in soil, dust and vegetation, as well as the intestinal tracts of insects and mammals. It is a common cause of food poisoning and may lead to symptoms such as nausea, vomitting, cramps and diarrhoea.

The product originates from Australia and is imported by Freshmart Singapore. The recall is ongoing.

Those who have bought the salad mix are advised against consuming it, said the SFA. Those who have already consumed it and are concerned about their health should seek medical advice.

Consumers can contact their point of purchase if they have further questions, added the agency.
