Passers-by rally to help elderly man who purportedly fell from escalator at Compass One mall
A video of an elderly man lying on his back at the foot of an escalator in a mall has gone viral, with netizens concerned about the well-being of the man.
The reel, shared by TikToker @davidcyf Chow David on Nov 23, shows a crowd gathering around the man who appears conscious, while passers-by try to help him.
At press time, the reel had garnered 40,400 views, 247 reactions and 21 comments.
In response to Stomp, the Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed that on Nov 21 at about 8:25pm, they received a call for assistance at 1 Sengkang Square and conveyed one person to Sengkang General Hospital.
Most netizens wondered what had happened to the man and if there were updates on his condition. Some suggested measures to keep the elderly safe.
"Elderly should be accompanied," said one TikToker.
Another said: "Elderly should take lift. Saw elderly fall backwards few times."
