A heartland tuition centre in Yishun intentionally placed a spelling error in an advertisement to draw attention to it, leaving many netizens appalled and amused.

"Need help in langages?", reads the ad promoting Elite Edu Learning Centre, which offers English, Chinese, and Mathematics classes for primary and secondary school students.

In response to queries from Stomp, a tuition centre spokesperson said that the "error" was intentional, to attract attention to the centre.

A photo of the banner was posted on the subreddit r/singapore by user @bannedfromrph, with the caption "This banner is from a learning centre".

Many found humour in the post. "I don't, but the learning centre probably needs it," said one commenter.

Some joked that it was a "co-learning space" for teachers and students alike. Others speculated that it was a calculated move and "successful marketing" as it caught the attention of many.

"Maybe this is an ingenious way to filter out people that really need to learn languages," another quipped.
