Man's entire arm stuck in drain pipe, rescuers remove kitchen sink and cabinet to free him
A man had his entire left arm trapped in a drain pipe under the kitchen sink in a Jurong flat on Nov 27.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a social media post that it received a call for assistance at Block 338A Tah Ching Road at about 1.35pm.
Firefighters from Jurong Fire Station and rescuers from the Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team responded to the incident.
The rescue operation involved a team of rescuers removing the kitchen sink and cabinet housing the drain pipe to create sufficient working space for the rescue.
An electric breaker was used by a rescuer to remove the kitchen sink and cabinet housing the drain pipe in the affected unit. The trapped man was protected from debris and dust with a protective sheet.

Another team of rescuers went to the flat directly below and cut a segment of the drain pipe with a battery-operated saw.
This allowed the rescuers to see how the arm was trapped and decide how to carefully manoeuvre the arm to free it.

A lubricant was used to ease the arm out of the drain pipe.
A medical team from Ng Teng Fong General Hospital was on-site to assess and render medical support to the person and had applied an intravenous drip.
The man remained conscious throughout the rescue operation and was freed in about two hours from SCDF's arrival.
He was taken to National University Hospital.
