Man who tried to evade officers among 4 arrested for drug offences in Geylang hotel raids
A total of 43 people are under investigation following a series of multi-agency enforcement operations carried out in Geylang over 11 days in November.
The police said the operations, conducted from Nov 12 to 22, involved 13 men and 30 women aged between 22 and 74.
They are being investigated for various offences, including illegal gambling, vice activities, drug-related offences, illegal sales of health products and illegal hawking.
The operations were led by Bedok Police Division and supported by officers from multiple agencies, including the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Traffic Police (TP), Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), Health Sciences Authority (HSA), Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), Singapore Customs, Land Transport Authority (LTA) and the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).
On Nov 13, a joint operation involving CNB and Bedok Police Division was carried out across six hotels in Geylang, resulting in the arrest of a 47-year-old man and two women aged 29 and 46 for suspected drug-related offences.
Another 50-year-old man, who had three active police gazettes, was also arrested after attempting to evade the police.

On Nov 16, officers from Bedok Police Division and ICA conducted a joint operation against online gambling activities at Ubi Road.
Six men, aged between 38 and 63, were arrested for offences under the Gambling Control Act, while two other men, aged 65 and 74, are under investigation.
The police said $4,454 in cash and various gambling-related items were seized.

Between Nov 12 and 22, the police also conducted operations against vice and secret society-related activities in Geylang, leading to the arrest of 12 women, aged between 29 and 56, for suspected vice-related offences under the Women's Charter.
In separate operations between Nov 18 and 20, enforcement officers from Bedok Police Division, HSA, ICA and CNB targeted the sale of unregistered health products and illegal drug-related activities.

Cough syrup and sexual enhancement products valued at more than $16,800 were seized.
Two men, aged 26 and 35, were also arrested for allegedly trafficking e-vaporisers and pods that were confirmed to contain etomidate.

On Nov 18, Singapore Customs conducted enforcement operations against duty-unpaid cigarettes in Geylang, seizing 336 sticks of such cigarettes.
Eight men, aged between 28 and 46, were issued composition sums under the Customs Act.
On Nov 21, the LTA carried out enforcement operations against illegally modified personal mobility devices (PMDs) and power-assisted bicycles (PABs).
Nine men and one woman, aged between 22 and 60, were issued composition sums and one PMD was impounded.

That same day, a joint operation involving Bedok Police Division, the Singapore Civil Defence Force, ICA and TP led to a raid on a public entertainment outlet at Geylang Road.

The police arrested 15 women, aged between 22 and 37, for working without valid work passes.
A 41-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man were arrested for allegedly employing foreign workers without valid permits.

Commanding officer of Geylang Neighbourhood Police Centre, Superintendent Letts Tan said the police will continue working closely with partner agencies to clamp down on illegal activities in the area, adding that such activities will not be tolerated.
Members of the public are also urged to report any unlawful activities to the police.
