64-year-old man hospitalised after PIE lorry crash
A 64-year-old man was taken to hospital after his lorry was involved in an accident with another on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) on the night of March 11.
The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the incident involving the two lorries along the PIE in the direction of Changi, before the Bukit Timah Expressway at 10.10pm.
One person who was found trapped in the driver’s seat of a lorry and was rescued by the SCDF using hydraulic rescue equipment.
The lorry driver was then taken conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, said the SCDF.
In a video posted on the SG Road Vigilante page on Facebook, a lorry can be seen moving on the extreme left lane of the expressway when it collides with a smaller lorry that is stationary. The smaller lorry has its hazard lights on and a warning triangle placed a few metres behind it. Upon contact, it is sent careening rightward across all four lanes of the expressway before it comes to a halt against the road divider.
The man is assisting with investigations which are ongoing, the police said.
