Man arrested over bottle thrown at SMRT bus

A man has been arrested for allegedly throwing a bottle at a bus, causing its window to shatter and injuring a passenger.
On July 8, police said that they received a call for assistance in Orchard Road at about 6.50pm on July 5.
According to preliminary investigations, the 38-year-old man allegedly threw a glass bottle onto the window of a bus from a pedestrian walkway.
A 57-year-old female bus passenger was injured and taken conscious to Raffles Hospital after the window shattered from the impact.
Earlier, on July 6, The Straits Times reported that the incident involved SMRT service 190.
Officers from the Tanglin Police Division were able to identify the man and arrested him on July 8. An 18-year-old who was with the man is also assisting with the investigation.
The man is expected to be charged in court on July 9 with the offence of rash act causing hurt.
If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to one year, a fine of up to $5,000, or both.
